Here are some answers to frequently asked questions from home brewers

How much beer do I need to donate?

We recommend that you donate a full 5-gallon batch to the event, though it’s not a requirement. We’d like for there to be enough to pour samples for everyone that attends to taste the beers at the event. And you stand a better chance of winning if your beer doesn’t run out during the event. In past years we have had about 100 people. Pours are about 3 oz so you can do the math.

Do I need to be present at the event?

Yes. Or at least someone needs to be present to serve your beer to the public. Oftentimes people will want to learn more about the beer they’re trying and the brewing process involved, so it’s best that the brewer is on hand to talk about their creation.

What kind of dispenser do I need?

You may bring your beer in whatever dispenser is most convenient for you. This can include any of the following: corny kegs, growlers, bottles, etc. If you do bring bottles also have an opener and a way to keep the beer cold.

What else do I need to bring?

You are responsible for bringing all necessary equipment needed to dispense your beer at the event, including jockey boxes, taps, buckets, coolers, CO2, etc. We’ll provide cups for the tasters and the venue has ice in limited supply (I bring a bag or two just to be safe).

When do I need to arrive on the day of the event?

We ask that all brewers please arrive with their beers around Noon in order to give everyone time to set everything up before the event starts at 1 pm.

May I drop off the beer at the venue the night before the event?

Unfortunately, due to the large number of brewers and lack of secure storage, we cannot allow brewers to drop their beers off the night before.

What if more than one brewer helped brew the beer and plans on attending?

Brewing with friends is awesome and we highly encourage it. We anticipate that this may be the case with a number of the entries. We are only able to allow two comped tickets to the event per entry. All other brewers would need to purchase a general admission ticket. Please make sure that the names of the other brewers are on the entry form so we can acknowledge them in the program. All brewers listed on the entry form would be eligible for the prizes if your team wins.

What happens if I win?

Well Santa gives you a prize. A number of our sponsors have designated prizes for the top 3 beers. More information for prizes will be released as we get closer to the event.
